Allan Schweitz, an open source evangelist, has over 20 years’ experience working with major organisations such as ING, Rabobank, Johnson & Johnson and AOL.
Originally from the Netherlands, Allan has acted as an enterprise architect, technical team lead and senior developer – delivering systems that range from high performance, web-enabled transaction platforms to interactive workflow and (big) data management solutions.
Armed with a BSc in Computer Science, Allan lists his specialties as Hadoop, Cloudera, Spark, HBase, ETL, ECM, WCM, Talend, JEE, jBoss, PostgreSQL, Android, Java, PHP and RapidMiner. Like many of his Onepoint colleagues, he is a certified Cloudera developer and an instructor for Apache Hadoop.
But away from individual platforms, Allan is passionate about open source solutions and the possibilities in Big Data. He has also been a part-time lecturer at the University of Salford’s School of Computing, Science & Engineering.
Since joining Onepoint back in 2007, Allan has worked on scores of keynote projects. He was a key figure in the architecture team during the Carphone Warehouse/ AOL Broadband merger and, as an Enterprise Architect at EurotaxGlass’s, Allan oversaw the design of a major data integration project.
In his free time, Allan supports local charities by donating his time and IT expertise to ensure the nonprofit sector can take advantage of advancements in the digital era.
